Here’s a link to our new promo video, edited together by one of our rowers Saoirse Horgan!
Irish Trials 10/10/15, National Rowing Centre:
Last season, UCCRC was proud to claim 7 athletes competing on behalf of Ireland as our own ! (World Championships – Aifric Keogh, Barbara O’ Brien W4-, U23 World Championships – Stephen O’ Connor LM2x, Homes International Regatta – Sean O’ Sullivan, David O’ Leary, Andy Harrington, Alex O’ Riordan M4+)
Once again this season the club had strong representation at the opening water trials in the National Rowing Centre.
Brian & David Keohane : U23 M2-
David Synnott : U23 LM1x
Jack Casey : U23 M1x
Deirdre O’ Sullivan : W1x
Athletes Andy Harrington and Stephen O’ Connor were due to compete, but unfortunately had to pull out of this trial due to illness.
We wish them all the best of luck now at the Provincial Indoor Championships in UL on the 21/11/15, as the next stage in the trialing process.
Skibbereen HOR 17/10/15, Cork Marina:
UCCRC had strong representation at this year’s Skibbereen HOR, with two men’s 8+’s (Snr and Inter), a women’s 8+ (Inter) , three men’s Snr 4-‘s, a women’s snr 4- and a host of 2-‘s and 1x’s taking to the water as well ! Unfortunately, as the entry was quite sparse amongst the senior boats UCC’s only pennant from the day was for Linda Murphy & Clodagh Scannell in the W Inter 2-. All crews put in strong performances though, with competition amongst the men and women really hotting up for those coveted seats in senior boats!
A big thanks to our hosts at Cork BC, where we launched from on the day!
UCC Sports Scholarships 15/16:
Six members of UCCRC who were awarded with UCC Sports Scholarships this season.
The support and funding these athletes gain from the scholarship programme helps in them to succeed in achieving their goals both in rowing and in college.
The 6 lucky athletes are:
Stephen O’Connor – UCC Sport Scholarship
Saoirse Horgan – UCC Sport Scholarship
Brian Keohane- Bank Of Ireland Sport Scholarship
David Keohane- Bank of Ireland Sport Scholarship
Andy Harrington-High Performance Sport Scholarship
Jack Casey- Quercus Scholarship
We wish the best of luck to all of the athletes for their coming season!

Watch out for the club’s progress at upcoming events :
Neptune Head (7/11/15), Provincial Indoor Championships (21/11/15) and Muckross Head (5/12/15)
That’s all for now folks, and we look forward to sharing more of the club’s news in the next winter edition!
