There are many racing events that run right throughout the year in Irish Rowing.
Races are split into two different types.
- Head Of The River races are usually held between November and March and are timed races of various length.
- Regatta races are side by side racing over 2000m and these take place in Regatta Season which is from May onwards.
The season usually finishes in July after the Irish Rowing Championships, however any athletes representing Ireland would stay on and train until their event in August/September.
The Highlight of University Rowing is the Irish “Varsities” which are held in April.
Recently UCCRC has taken part in other “Match” type events organized with different Universities around Ireland. The first one of these is held in December and this is the first race that a UCC Novice would race in.
